What is a Flexible Sigmoidoscopy?

A Flexible Sigmoidoscopy (sometimes referred to as a flex sig) is different from a colonoscopy in that it only examines the sigmoid colon (lower portion of the bowel).

Why would I need a Flexible Sigmoidoscopy?

Some common reasons for this procedure is rectal bleeding, certain types of pain or changes in bowel habits.

Will my insurance cover this procedure?
